Today, Workers' Compensation Boards are facing many challenges. Due to inflation, demand and new treatments, health care costs have increased rapidly. Combined with these issues are intense pressures to simplify administration, offer value added services and increase the quality of service offered to injured workers and health care providers. Paper-based processes used by many Workers' Compensation Boards are generally time and labor intensive, error prone and not conducive to data analysis and reporting.

Assure Claims Bill Submission and Payment

Providers enrolled with TELUS Health Solutions can electronically submit bills to a Workers' Compensation Board and monitor the status of those bills through our health care provider portal. Bills are adjudicated according to the rules defined by the Workers' Compensation Board. Once a bill is submitted and adjudicated, the provider can check the status of the bill claim online, thus reducing the number of calls back and forth with the Workers' Compensation Boards. We also offer an exception management feature through our portal for bills that require manual intervention. Our bill exception module ensures that each bill requiring manual intervention can be successfully adjudicated. Providers receive payment within 7 days for bills that are auto-adjudicated. Payment is made electronically to the provider's bank account.

Plan Management for Vocational Rehabilitation

Our Plan Management solution allows rehabilitation providers and Workers' Compensation Boards to establish and manage vocational rehabilitation plans for injured workers who require retraining in order to return to work. We provide tools to share information and agree on a plan. A "budget versus actuals" capability allows both providers and payers to view the summary of bills paid against the plan, allowing both parties to better manage the plan.

Predictive Payment

The predictive payment application allows the compensation board delivery team to create and manage plans for worker claims that will automatically generate and submit predictable recurring bills for payment. This functionality greatly reduces the manual effort usually required to ensure that recurring bills (nursing, home fees, clothing allowances, independent living allowances) get paid on time. It also saves the providers the effort of repeatedly billing recurring weekly or monthly charges.
