TELUS brings the head office into the field for Canadian home and community care organizations with new mobile solution

Canadian Homecare Summit – Calgary, AB, October 28, 2009 – For home and community caregivers who spend their days on the road or in their patients’ homes, time is a precious commodity and not something to be spent filling out numerous paper forms when it can be used to improve care delivery. To help homecare organizations, TELUS Health Solutions is introducing a new mobile solution called TELUS MobileCare.

TELUS MobileCare provides homecare organization care providers with an easy-to-use mobile application that gives them access to information required for home visits, such as assigned visits for the day and verified location and care plan tasks. Staff can indicate which visits and tasks are complete, make visit notes, and automatically track their mileage while on the road.

Our healthcare system is facing a variety of challenges including the growing demands of an aging population, an increasing number of people with chronic illnesses, fewer clinicians and a healthcare system primarily focused on treating acute conditions. These issues are providing the stimulus for the adoption of new care models that allow a patient to stay in their home and still receive quality care.

Currently the only application of its kind that runs on both mobile phones and smartphones, TELUS MobileCare integrates with an organization’s existing software applications for managing care plans, scheduling visits and tracking mileage and other administrative requirements.
